What Is Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration?

Dry age-related macular degeneration is the gradual deterioration of the macula, the most central part of the retina responsible for sharp, central vision. It is a leading cause of blindness in individuals over 50 and often develops without early symptoms.

However, as it progresses, AMD can lead to:

  • Blurry or distorted central vision
  • Difficulty seeing in low light
  • Challenges with colour perception

MacuMira has been clinically shown to restore vision in those with dry AMD and can improve both vision and quality of life.

What to Expect During Your MacuMira Treatment

MacuMira is comfortable and noninvasive, involving no medications or injections. Our team will develop a personalized treatment plan that typically includes 4 sessions over 10 days, each lasting approximately 30 minutes.

During your MacuMira treatment:

  • You’ll be comfortably seated in an exam chair.
  • A specialized headset will be placed on your head, gently delivering microcurrent stimulation to your closed eyes.
  • This stimulation promotes blood flow to nourish the macula and encourages the production of essential cellular components that support retinal health.

Follow-up sessions are typically scheduled every 2.5 to 3 months to maintain the benefits of treatment.

Benefits of MacuMira Treatment for Dry AMD

MacuMira offers several benefits, including:

  • Restored sight: In a clinical trial, 100% of patients showed improved vision.
  • Enhanced contrast sensitivity: Many patients reported improved vision in low-light conditions and better differentiation between light and dark.
  • Quick results: Most patients started seeing results within the first 10 days of treatment.
